Taste & Explore Coffin Bay - 3.5 Hour Tour
Step on board and get ready for a Coffin Bay seafood experience in style. Relax and let our crew take care of all the finer details as they host you on an informative cruise through the most scenic parts of Coffin Bay's iconic waterways. This is the best way to see where your lunch lives before it gets to your plate and get acquainted with some of the Eyre Peninsula's famous seafood. Once on board you will sail straight out of the harbour and into the famous waterways of Coffin Bay, keep a lookout for our friendly dolphins who love to swim with the boat, resident seals and a myriad of birdlife including the Osprey and Sea Eagle. The itinerary includes local landmarks such as the Brothers Islands, Black Springs and the many secluded postcard beaches dotted along the rugged and unique National Park coastline.
The Boat
Our luxury sailing catamaran is a large and very stable platform. It is built for the open ocean so it easily takes all our guests on their experience around the sheltered water ways of Coffin Bay in absolute comfort. The ride is smooth even on very windy days. You can choose your level of adventure… feel the wind in your hair out on the foredeck, take a sheltered seat in the large cockpit area or kick back and enjoy panoramic views from the lounge inside. Yes, the boat is well equipped with all the comforts and amenities required for an extended adventure and your crew are there to make sure your experience is fun and comfortable.

Included in this experience is an all-local Coffin Bay seafood tasting platter for each booking group prepared fresh on board by the crew. Featuring delicious seasonal seafood caught or produced in the pristine waters that you will be exploring. We have a licensed bar on board with a great menu of local Eyre Peninsula and South Australian refreshments for purchase along the way. We also have non-alcoholic drinks, tea and coffee and also a complimentary platter of fruit and french pastries for the morning start.

Sunset Cruise - 2 Hours
Step on board and begin your evening in style. Relax and let our charming professional crew host you on a cruise around beautiful Coffin Bay. Once on board you will head off on a leisurely lap of the harbour, the crew will then hoist the sails, turn off the engines and sail right out into beautiful Coffin Bay. Keep an eye out for our local dolphins that love to swim with the boat. Sit back and enjoy the scenery, get social or learn about sailing and the local sights. Choose from an early afternoon session or a late session right on sunset.

Dolphin Swim - 5 Hour Tour
Welcome on-board Sunset Charters sailing catamaran for a Dolphin swim experience that will have you at one with nature and leave you buzzing! Cruise right out into the heart of beautiful Coffin Bay to the home of our resident Burrunan Dolphins where we will get you up close and personal in the water with these beautiful creatures.
Not keen to splash-splash? Don’t worry, you can also book on this tour as a Dolphin Watch passenger and view all the action from the deck as the Dolphins frolic right under your feet. This is a great option if you want to keep dry, are not confident with the Dolphin Swim physical requirements or for young children. If you love Dolphins and want to experience the best and most scenic areas of beautiful Coffin Bay this option is perfect. Your crew will look after you and keep you well fed and watered with all the same inclusions as the Dolphin Swim tour.
Once on board you will sail straight out of the harbour on a five-hour Dolphin Swim expedition. Transit to the Dolphin Swim area is a scenic 3- hour return trip through the most beautiful parts of the sheltered waterways of Coffin Bay. Once at the swim area we will get the swimmers suited up and in the water to experience these playful creatures.
We offer two swimming options; our swim net out the front of the boat and our mermaid tow lines at the back of the boat. Swimmers will be rotated through both experiences. Swimmers will be fully briefed on both swim options by our experienced crew prior to getting in the water. Please read the Dolphin Swim physical requirements in the FAQ’s section below.
We interact with wild Dolphins in their natural environment, we do not pursue, feed or train them. Any interaction with the Dolphins is on their terms and for their enjoyment. Interactions may vary between trips depending on their level of interest and curiosity on the day.
We will take care of all the finer details and keep you well fed, watered and comfortable for the day. This is an intimate boutique experience, with a maximum of 11 passengers and 3 professional crew.
Inclusions
A 5-hour scenic cruise through Coffin Bay’s beautiful water ways. Up to an accumulative one hour in the water with Coffin Bay’s wild Burrunan Dolphins. Front net swim and mermaid towline swim experiences. All the gear – mask & snorkel, wetsuit, hood & socks (5mm to keep you nice and warm). Hot deck showers after your swim. Brunch, Tea, Coffee, drinking water and Lunch (catered by Bayside Grind). Licensed bar service (drinks sold separately, bar opens after the dolphin swim).

- We give a 100% money back guarantee if Dolphins are not sighted from the boat at any stage during the tour.
- We interact with wild Dolphins in their natural environment. We do not pursue, train or feed them. All interactions are on their terms.
- The length of the Dolphin Swim Interactions will vary between tours, and we cannot guarantee an interaction every time.
The physical requirements are not difficult, but you must have a moderate level of upper body strength and mobility and be able to confidently:
- Climb a rope ladder
- Hang on to a tow rope in the water
- Swim unassisted in open water
- Get in and out of a wetsuit
- Use a mask and snorkel
- Yes, if you change your mind during the tour and you and the crew are confident you are OK with the Dolphin Swim physical requirements, you are welcome to upgrade your fare.
- The crew will charge you the difference at the end of the tour, we have cash or card facilities on board.
- Yes, signing a liability waiver is required to participate in the Dolphin Swim activity.
- You will not have to sign a liability waiver if you are watching only.
- You will receive a liability waiver link by email when you book either the Dolphin Swim or Dolphin Watch option.
- If you are swimming, please complete the waiver prior to arrival. If you are watching only and you think you may change your mind on the day and upgrade to a Dolphin Swim, please also complete the waiver prior to arrival.
- No, touching the Dolphins is strictly prohibited.
- We interact with wild Dolphins in their natural environment, all interactions are on their terms, we do not pursue, feed or harass them.
- This tour is suitable for older children aged 12 – 17 years. Children in this age range are welcome to book on as a Dolphin Swim child fare.
- If your child is aged 8 – 12 years, please call Sunset Charters directly (ph: 0409 336 136) to apply. We will ask you a few quick questions to gauge your child’s level of ability and experience in the water and complete the booking for you.
- If your child is under the age of 8 years, they are welcome to book on as a Dolphin Watch child fare but cannot swim.
- Yes absolutely, you are welcome to book on as a Dolphin Watch fare and watch the dolphins frolic at the bow of the boat right under your feet.
- If you change your mind on the way out after talking with the experienced crew and seeing the boat and swim set-ups, you are welcome to upgrade to a Dolphin Swim fare.
- Yes, you would be crazy not to!
- If you have an underwater camera, make sure to use a wrist strap and don’t drop it. The front swim net will catch most cameras, but we are unable to retrieve items from the bottom of the ocean.
Terms & Policies
- The Sunset Charters catamaran is a barefoot boat, shoes must be removed when boarding the boat (there will be seating, a matt and a shoe basket out on the jetty to make this process easy and don’t worry we take your shoes with us!).
- Please dress for the weather and be mindful clothing and accessories can easily blow off or blow up.
- All children aged 12 and under must wear a life jacket at all times (these will be provided).
- All passengers participating in the Dolphin Swim activity are required to sign a liability waiver.
- Full refund less 10% processing fee for cancellations up to 7 days prior to your booking.
- 50% refund for cancellations up to 48 hours prior to your booking.
- No refund for cancellations less than 48 hours prior to your booking.
- If we cancel due to inclement weather we will give you a full refund.
