About Sunset Charters

The west coast of the Eyre Peninsula is a wild and rugged place that is shaped by the mighty Southern Ocean. This remote corner of the world is unique and beautiful, but the elements here are harsh and the ecosystems are fragile. The team at Sunset Charters are passionate about conservation and enjoy the Eyre Peninsula’s wild and rugged coastline just the way it is. Our aim is to keep it wild and help visitors to value it by experiencing it through sustainable and low impact tourism platforms. We use only the power of the wind in our sails and leave only the wake of our boat through the water.

The west coast may be wild and rugged but experiencing it doesn’t have to be. Let us show you the raw beauty of Coffin Bay in absolute style and comfort. We take pride in making you feel as at home on the water as we are. Step on board and let us take care of the rest, we are all about exceptional service, great local food and wine and sharing genuine memorable experiences with our guests.

The Sunset Family Story

Hello! We are the Sunset family (yes that’s our surname!) Kalo, Emma & their two daughters are Coffin Bay locals who love the West Coast, sailing and all things ocean.

We became hooked on the salty lifestyle from spending years sailing the South Pacific and Australian coastline on our yacht. During these travels we created the idea of starting our own yacht charter business back home in Coffin Bay. The idea was fine tuned whilst sailing thousands of sea miles, working for different marine tourism charter businesses along the way and hosting many visitors on board our yacht.

We sold our family yacht and bought our stylish Sunset Charters catamaran in 2020. We sailed her from Queensland to Coffin Bay and have since been working hard behind the scenes building our dream business and raising a young family. Watching this journey come to fruition and experiencing the joy and smiles from all our passengers as they sail through beautiful Coffin Bay has been absolutely amazing.

“We had a wonderful 3.5-hour cruise. Our Captain Kalo and 1st mate Bec were very friendly and welcoming with interesting information about the area, the fishing and the oyster industry. We had a lovely seafood tasting platter which was a full meal. We saw a pod of dolphins who swam along entertaining us for quite a while. Highly recommend the Taste & Explore Tour!”
